Got Ya Back

Hebrews Chpt. 2

02:01- really, really hear what you hear (from god)--> do not ignore/revolt it;

02:2-3- words angels speak--> unalterable, don't transgress or disobey them; how much more so if that word comes from god; the word that we have heard are from god; think on that since the beginning god has been speaking to us; how can i neglect so great a salvation! that word is jesus! if the word is from god thats an amazing thing, how much more amazing if that word becomes flesh! if it becomes real and tangible and living and saving!!!

02:04- with all that in mind, god also does schnazz to confirm that word (signs, wonders, works); why couldn't he affirm his word now?

02:05-08- angels don't have rule of the land; man is so minuscule its so astonishing that we get all that we do; jesus was a little while lower than the angels but god crowned him with glory & honor; you have appointed him to be king; we are currently in this weird limbo state where jesus is fully king but we do not see that yet;

02:09- but what do we see--> jesus, god almighty, yhwh, king of kings, lord of lords, god's word that he has been speaking since all of creation made flesh (let this just wash over you for a second; let the worship explode from you; jesus has everything subjected under his feet, yet we don't see, it seems like we see a whole lot of not jesus subjection in this world, but what do we see, jesus; this gives us unexplainable hope because we know the character of jesus; we know that he is perfectly righteous, good, holy, just and that this isn't the end of the story) taking on our skin, being a little lower than the angels; he took death and bi!c# slapped it (gloriously & honorably). so that by the grace of god (father) he (jc) might swallow/taste/throw up the awful/horrible/bitter death on our behalf.

02:10-13- for it was right for god (whom made all things and all things contiune existing because of him) to bring many sons to glory and perfect the author of our salvation through suffering. basically the most powerful ever who made all things and sustains all things choses to accomplish salvation of his people through suffering not power or might. what does that say about the methods that we should employ? if the one who most certainly is justified to pull rank doesn't but chooses to serve and suffer, what does that communicate to us who have no rank to pull and our only reason we are even saved is because of god's good pleasure and everything that "we" have is from god and given to us directly by god; the sustainer (jc) and the sustained (us) are all from god (and thats the crux of it all, jesus had to become human so that his saving death and resurrection could be attributed to his brethren);

02:14-15- the children share in flesh and blood. jesus took on flesh and blood. jesus used death to render the devil powerless (he used to have the "power" of death and certainly the power of the fear of death). jesus flips the script. this thing (our sin earned damnable death) that used to lord over us as satan's only accussation is now defeated. the one and only thing that satan could use to accuse us, thats true, is our sin and now thats not an issue any more. jesus represented the 'flesh & blood' team and beat the 'death' team. we (the blood bought purchased brethren) are now free from the slavery of the fear of death. this is huge, because if death is now not in control of our lives we can be free to live as christ would have us to live. how do you intimidate someone who's not afraid of death?

02:16-18- jesus doesn't help angels, he helps the seed of abraham; the way that god set it up, jesus had to become a merciful and faithful high priest, able to make propitiation for the sins of his people--> jesus had to, in all ways, be like us; he faced our temptations and defeated our worst enemies he is quite a resource of help and guidance.

chpt. 2 quick wrap-up:

jesus still better than angels; if the word is from god and god's word actually becomes flesh, how can we reject so great a salvation; jesus becomes like us (man) in all things to beat death and the fear of death;
